The Road Less Traveled is proud to announce that we have been recognized as a Certified B Corporation® for a new term!
Back in 2013 we were the first Certified B Corporation® of our kind, a business focusing on service learning and adventure travel. Since 2013, RLT has been a Certified B Corporation®, demonstrating our transparency and willingness to use our business for good. We are pleased to be surrounded by like-minded companies (Patagonia, Numi Tea, Etsy, Better World Books, etc.) in the #BCorp world who also value a commitment to our natural environment and the local community.
You may be wondering what a B Corp is and why it matters. B Corporations are leading the global movement of people who use business as a force for good. B Corps are important because they inspire all businesses to compete not only to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world. Certified B Corporations meet higher standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. It is similar to a Fair Trade certification but for our entire business, not just our tea. The performance standards B Corps meet are comprehensive, transparent, and verified. They have measured The Road Less Traveled’s impact on all its stakeholders (e.g. workers, suppliers, community, customers, and the environment). Unlike traditional corporations, Certified B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions not only on their shareholders, but also on their stakeholders (e.g., workers, suppliers, community, consumers, and the environment).
What does this mean for us? Renewing our B Corp status for another season means that we are just as committed to giving back to our community and to the environment as we have been since our inception 25 years ago. The Road Less Traveled’s commitment to sustainability and making the world a better places runs deep within our business model and is huge part of why we do what we do. We value this beautiful planet and try to share our passion and love for it with the youth that join our trips. We have made a sustainability promise to:
Any student who joins us on an RLT trip supports our social and environmental commitments. Join us in celebrating as we redefine success in business. Cheers!
