Program Description

The Florida Keys contain some of the largest coral reefs in the world housing rare plant and animal species. Divers and water sports enthusiasts flock to this ocean paradise, which strains this delicate and vital ecosystem. Traveling as stewards and conservators, we explore how it has sustained itself for ages and the future of this ocean community. First, we obtain PADI SCUBA certification as open water divers before jumping into our service project. Working with a local Keys expert, we plant and restore staghorn coral near Molasses Reef, an underwater nursery that has become the glowing standard for coral reef conservation. While staying at a beautiful home in Key Largo, there is time to enjoy the scenic and relaxing beauty of this island paradise.
