RLT trips are life-changing, empowering, and formative. All of our programs are thoughtfully designed to involve engaging service work, thrill seeking adventure, and eye opening cultural experiences. Due to the modest group size and unique design of our programs we often see our trips enroll early and sell out with a waitlist (especially our new programs). In order to ensure that you don’t miss out on your top choice program we suggest you enroll on the day our registration opens.
Enrollment is based on a first come, first serve basis, and spots will not be considered held until the initial $1000 trip deposit is made. Note: Our alumni and their siblings have two weeks to enroll before we open our application to new students.
Our admissions team works hard to try and make sure that our trips are balanced, both in age and gender. However, we do find that some trips trend older or younger and have a few more girls than boys or vice versus. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that each student who enrolls will be a positive contributing member to their group and be actively engaged in their trip.
Read on for more information about new 2018 program offerings and save your spot now by starting the application process! We highly encourage you to fill out an application the day that enrollment opens. Our new programs tend to fill quickly with alumni travelers and early bird families.

Partnering with the Kasiisi Project and Elizabeth Ross, Ph.D. & Housemaster at Harvard University, we provide educational support to students in the community, in addition to helping villagers construct bee hives, not only for honey but also to help protect crops! Elephants in the area are known to trample fences and crops, but actively avoid bees. Having hives around is a harmonious way for elephants and farmers to coexist, all the while, positively impacting the environment. We spend time with the Kibale Chimpanzee Project run by Richard Wrangham, Ph.D. and Professor at Harvard University while tracking wild chimpanzees to study behavior, ecology, and physiology. Top it all off with a magical journey through the Mountains of the Moon and you have a true once in a lifetime adventure.
