Hometown: Dallas, TX
RLT Leader: Tanzania: Hujambo '19
Education: Public Policy, Duke University
Allie is a junior studying public policy (with a concentration in race, poverty, and social exclusion) and a minor in African and African American Studies. However, she is currently in the midst of a gap year in the pursuit of adventure and the kind of learning you cannot receive in the classroom. On her gap year, Allie has been working in rural Lee County, VA with the Appalachia Service Project, a non-profit emergency home repair organization in the beautiful mountains of central Appalachia. When not managing construction sites, Allie has enjoyed this year by hiking, making deep relationships, painting and learning her mandolin. She loves adventure, skiing, and all things music. Allie grew up in Dallas, TX yet her family has recently moved to Telluride, CO, providing the adventure of a life-time. Her life motto was best said by Mark Twain, “Don’t let school get in the way of your education.” There is so much to experience and learn in this world and she cannot wait to continue to experience it this summer with RLT!
