At least once a year, we drive from Chicago to Monument to meet in Colorado for an irreplaceable two weeks of staff training. Flying would be a lot quicker, and probably even less expensive. However, we prefer to spend time in the “wide-open spaces” that lie between the two states.
As we pass though the farmlands of Iowa, there is a gradual letting go of work and worries. As a family packed in a car with dog in tow, we can feel our spirit steadily restored traversing the rolling hills of Council Bluffs. There is an entirely new perspective on life. By the time we arrive at our destination, we are able to experience the freedom and joy of once again being in outdoors in the company of a dedicated, compassionate, talented group of people willing to make a difference in the world.
With most days crowded with expectations and limitations, we too seldom find our way to this place – the wide-open spaces of our lives.
Where is your wide-open space? It may be a place you’ve visited or a sanctuary you’ve created.
Picture it now, and go there in your mind. Take refuge in it and – and most importantly remember to return their often.
We want to say Welcome to a Summer of Life Changing Travel and Welcome to The Road Less Traveled.
