Charlie is an avid learner. He is a teacher on the Big Island of Hawai’i, an explorer, a reader, and a philosopher. Whether he is coaching basketball in rural Cambodia, mugging cattle in Hawai’i, assisting with computer literacy in Namibia, tutoring students in Australia, or playing tennis in Poland, Charlie’s core values center around positivity, education, compassion, sports, exploration, travel, and family. Charlie hails from Springfield, Illinois and attended undergrad at Cornell University. After graduating, Charlie worked with Teach For America as a 5th grade teacher in the southernmost town in the U.S. – Na’alehu, Hawai’i. There he also pursued and completed his Masters of Educational Studies in Elementary Education from Johns Hopkins University. This is his first summer with the Road Less Traveled but he looks forward to many more!
