Mara took her first steps in Vancouver on her first international trip. It is safe to say she has kept the momentum going ever since! After graduating a year early from Emerson College in Boston, she moved in Dublin, Ireland to work. During that time she also worked at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, backpacked across Europe, and went to India to celebrate the Holi Festival. Inspired by her new network of international friends to improve her Spanish, Mara spent the following year teaching English in Madrid. Before leaving Spain, she hiked all 600 miles of the Camino de Santiago del Norte across the coast of the Cantabrian Sea, raising over $5,000 for Refugee Support Europe. The past year’s adventures have included backpacking in South America and Southeast Asia. Some of her favorite places include the Ha Giang region of Vietnam, the Aran Islands in Ireland, the medinas of Morocco, and anywhere she can practice Spanish. Mara can’t wait to share her passion for travel, service, learning from other cultures, and living off the beaten path with RLT participants this summer!
