I never really was one to believe in magic, but was left with no other choice following a summer with The Road Less Traveled. From surfing the waves of Hanalei Bay on Kauai to scuba diving through the picturesque coral reefs of Key Largo, I witnessed magic each and every day, living, serving, and learning side by side inspiring individuals of all ages. With genuine adventure and inevitable self-growth, RLT epitomizes one's desire for an endless summer.
Since growing up in the Midwest and receiving his Bachelor of Science of Environment & Natural Resources from The Ohio State University, Max has fulfilled his self-prophecy of working outside. From instructing kayaking and canoeing to leading venture out trips with teenagers in the Great Lakes Region, he loves facilitating personal and leadership development by utilizing the outdoors. For a number of years, Max taught fifth and sixth graders through an Outdoor Education program located in the Coastal Redwoods of central California. When he wasn't teaching about conservation and stewardship, Max loves to backpack, surf, read, and write along the west coast.
In 2013, Max led our Aloha 'Aina program in Hawaii and Conservation is Key in the Florida Keys. In 2014, he led two trips, first a dive trip to Bonaire, followed by an exciting session in Colorado on Call of the Wild! In the summer of 2018, he found himself diving underwater in Bonaire again.
