Fun and new friends are a big part of our teen summer programs!

Joining one of our teen service and adventure trips – whether a domestic trip or an international trip across the world – can give you the summer of a lifetime! From exploring new countries to discovering different cultures, and contributing to meaningful service projects to tackling new adventure challenges, our summer trips offer a wide range of fun new experiences.

For the adventure lovers, you could spend your summer hiking, kayaking, surfing, rock climbing, rafting, snorkeling, scuba diving, camping, and exploring the best natural parts of the world.

For teens wanting certified service hours, you could volunteer at animal sanctuaries, teach English to elementary school students abroad, help with environmental conservation projects, collect underwater marine data, or help with community based projects in areas of need.

For culture lovers, you could experience the ancient architecture of Athens or Rome, wander the vibrant streets of iconic cities in Vietnam, visit the famous night markets of Chaing Mai, Thailand, make mofongo in a cooking class in Puerto Rico, or practice your Spanish living in rural villages in Costa Rica.

So whatever grabs your attention, be part of The Road Less Traveled this summer for a fun-filled trip exploring some of the best locations around the world!

New friends that last a lifetime

As well as all of the experiences listed above, there is one other thing that can make joining an RLT travel program a potentially life-changing opportunity for teens: the chance to make new friends from around the world!

Teens often join our trips alone and travel solo, not knowing anyone else on the program. This enables them to meet, and build friendships and connections with other kids from across the country.

They will immediately have at least one thing in common – their interest in travel and exploring new places. However, they are also likely to realize they have other shared interests as the trip progresses and they take on a wide range of new and unfamiliar challenges that require them to work together and get to know each other.

Year after year we see strong friendships that are made on RLT trips. Students frequently stay in touch with each other after returning from one of our programs, and some meet up and plan future adventures with each other! Traveling with RLT over the summer allows teens to build a network of travel friends from across the country that will last a lifetime.

We aren’t kidding when we talk about “life-changing travel”!

"Coming on this trip, I had no idea that what would resonate with me most would come from something that wasn’t on the itinerary, but rather an intangible love from the people I shared the experiences with…No one person on this trip was similar to the other, but we all were one cohesive unit, brought together by the Road Less Traveled…This trip showed me just how important it is to take risks and experience what I am passionate about, because seeing the world and making the most of what it has to offer with people who have the same desire gave me what a million words and pictures could never do.”

This was some lovely feedback we had from one of our RLT alum travelers, that highlights beautifully how meaningful RLT trips can be.

From the fun adventures, to the new friendships, join us this summer to have your own life changing travel experience with RLT!
